Mars
A long time ago in a world far far away, the world as a whole was collapsing onto itself. The air was polluted, the soil was infected, the people corrupt, and all love for one another gone. Men were killing children for fuel, government throwing all out assaults to keep the individuals in check, however in all this darkness, a light came at the end of the tunnel.
NASA saw an opportunity to save what was left of humanity. With backing from just about every government on this planet, they successfully funded mission to Mars. The crew made up of 50 men, women, and children all from different background and nationalities were sent on a one-way trip to the red planet.
The Captain, Robert Oliver Brown was a British national airforce pilot and physically one of the strongest on the crew. Harrison Tyler fell, a former Boeing employee was sent up as the engineer/mechanic. Lucian Prinz, one of Austria’s most brilliant Astrological scientist. Along with 12 others, all three of them committed suicide within the first three months of the trip.
With only 35 of the original crew left, NASA decided to fund another mission with again another 50. However, due to sabotage from the Russian team working on the rocket, the propulsion system imploded on itself 13 minutes after takeoff killing all on board. Meanwhile, the original crew was only a month away from landing on the red planet when a mathematical error occurred.
Phobos, one of Mars’ two moons was going to intercept them near landing before decelerating close to orbit. It would have taken too much fuel to adjust the orbit, so they were left with one choice. They had to avoid the moon as it was coming towards them.
While the crew was sure to die, the world was in the process of turning itself to ash. Countries had started to completely bypass the Geneva contract, unleashing new, deadly diseases on each other purely to satisfy their need for world domination. NASA was one of the ones affected by the conditions which meant our crew was alone on their journey.
As the Phobos came dangerously close to the ship, the crew adjusted the orbit just enough to make a gravity slingshot around Phobos to ascend even faster to Mars and avoid the moon. There was one problem with this idea. They would descend too quickly. Once this maneuver was complete, the crew did descend too fast. 6 of the crew were killed by G-forces while only entering the atmosphere. The rest of the crew deployed the parachutes too early which made for a painfully slow descent. Once safely landed, the crew wrote “The Martian Bill of Rights” which protect against what happened on earth to repeat itself. This just shows that humanity can prosper regardless of the situation.
